Earlier this month, Ryan Seacrest took over hosting Wheel of Fortune from Pat Sajak, who had been hosting the beloved game show since 1981. Not everyone has been pleased with Seacrest’s performance.
Now, Pat’s daughter Maggie, who is the social media correspondent on Wheel of Fortune, is revealing what she really thinks about Ryan’s hosting skills.
Maggie’s Thoughts On Ryan
It’s safe to say, Maggie is a fan.
Maggie, 29, told US Weekly that Ryan, 49, is “great” and “so professional” on Wheel of Fortune.
“I’m sure you would assume but he really appreciates the show and knows how important it is,” Maggie said. “You can really tell by how prepared he is and how he treats the contestants and how he treats the whole experience.”
Maggie and her family feel protective over Wheel of Fortune, for obvious reasons. However, she believes that “it is in great hands so we’re excited to see where it goes.”
Are fans feeling the same way?
Maggie Praises Her ‘Aunt Vanna’
Maggie went on to say that Vanna White, 67, is like family to her. Vanna has co-hosted Wheel of Fortune since 1982.
“Jokingly, we say she’s Aunt Vanna, but I really have known her since before I was born,” Maggie said. “She’s great, I love being able to see her now at work. We have a lot of fun, I pull her into TikToks I’m doing and things like that, so she’s the best.”
“She really is such an icon, such a legend and such a great person too,” she continued. “She’s as sweet as she seems.”
Maggie also gushed about what it was like to grow up on the set of Wheel of Fortune.
“It’s such a special show to so many people and it’s more than just a show, which sounds maybe kinda cheesy, but it really is. I mean, this is bonding among generations,” she explained. “This is the time that families eat dinner together. I mean, it’s really special.”
“When people have come up to my dad or told me how special the show is to them, it goes beyond just ‘I love that show’ and to be a part of it now is really meaningful to me,” Maggie added.
Pat Says Goodbye
Fans were understandably devastated back in June when Pat, 77, said goodbye to Wheel of Fortune upon his retirement.
“Well, the time has come to say goodbye,” he said at the end of his final show. “I have a few thanks and acknowledgments before I go, and I want to start with all of you watching out there. It’s been an incredible privilege to be invited into millions of homes night after night, year after year, decade after decade.”
“And I’ve always felt like the privilege came with the responsibility to keep this daily half hour a safe place for family fun,” he continued. “No social issues, no politics, nothing embarrassing I hope, just a game.”
“But gradually it became more than that,” Pat concluded. “A place where kids learned their letters, where people from other countries honed their English skills, where families came together along with friends and neighbors, and entire generations. What an honor to play even a small part in all of that. Thank you for allowing me into your lives.”
In the weeks since Ryan has taken over, he’s struggled to win over fans who miss Pat dearly. That’s why he’ll undoubtedly be especially relieved to have the support of Pat’s daughter Maggie!
