Lori Loughlin’s Daughter Clears Up College Admission Scandal ‘Misconception’

Olivia Jade Giannulli, daughter of the former “Fuller House” actress Lori Loughlin and fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, is speaking out this week to try and debunk some of the biggest rumors from the college admissions scandal that landed both of her parents behind bars. 

Olivia Jade Sounds Off 

“I am super aware that I’ve been given opportunities because of my parents and that I live a very blessed and fortunate and privileged life,” Olivia Jade told Entertainment Tonight. “But then there’s also a part of me that feels… it’s tricky. It’s hard to speak on because I know that to the average human, I have it easy.” 

What bothers Olivia Jade, 22, the most is what she describes as misconceptions about her work ethic.

“There is a big misconception about me, I feel at least personally, where I get that comment of, ‘You don’t work hard.’ But I didn’t have to start my YouTube when I was 14. I did put in a lot of work,” she explained. “There’s all these rumors floating around about my grades — ‘She clearly didn’t work hard. She must have failed school.’ I don’t even think I’ve ever said this publicly, but in high school I had straight A’s and I worked really hard at school.”

Olivia Jade Struggles To Defend Herself 

Olivia Jade went on to say that she “totally understands” why people would think this about her, and that she has trouble defending herself publicly. She also revealed that she has been in therapy since just after the scandal broke.

“I started a few years ago when things went sideways in my family and with the college scandal,” she stated. “I just needed somebody to talk to. If you have the resource and you can, I would really recommend it.” 

In the years since then, Olivia Jade’s approach to therapy has changed.

“When I first started, I wanted it to be good and everything to be healed and all of this to work overnight or within a week’s span,” she said. “And I feel like it’s been years, and I’m still dealing with things and I still have so many questions.”

College Admissions Scandal 

Olivia Jade’s parents were sentenced to two and five months in prison respectively for allegedly paying $500,000 in bribe money to have her and her older sister Isabella admitted to the University of Southern California as members of the crew team, even though neither girl had ever rowed before.

They have each since been released from prison, and are both trying to move on with their lives in the wake of this scandal.

Olivia Jade recently competed on “Dancing With The Stars,” coming in 8th place on the ABC reality series.
