WWE had major plans for Lars Sullivan as he was going to take on John Cena at WrestleMania 35. Then, Sullivan suffered what is thought to be a panic attack and he never appeared on the main roster. During the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed what roles, if any, either will have at next Sunday’s WrestleMania.

Cena’s role is being kept secret and only a handful of Vince McMahon’s top people know what the 16 time world champion will do. There has been speculation that Cena could get involved in Elias’ live performance, which might lead to a match. In case you forgot, Cena took out some of his aggression at last year’s WrestleMania while awaiting the Undertaker.

Many were hoping that Cena would replace Baron Corin and wrestle in Kurt Angle’s retirement match, but that is not the direction WWE is headed. The biggest problem with booking Cena for this year’s WrestleMania is that he is filming a movie, which is jutting wrapping up now.

WWE has pretty quiet regarding Sullivan, outside of Triple H saying that he getting the necessary help. During a recent conference call, Triple H hinted that Sullivan is doing well and he is someone WWE remains high on.

“I don’t think they’re gonna do a match with Lars, but I wouldn’t be surprised if John Cena does a match with somebody and wins and Lars shows up and destroys him,” said Meltzer. “Lars I’m thinking is coming back fairly soon […] and Triple H kinda sorta hinted that as well.”

There is always the possibly that Cena appears during WrestleMania and that is when Sullivan makes his debut. Sullivan would then beatdown Cena, finally setting up the feud that was supposed to start months ago. Or, Sullivan could debut in the Andre The Giant Battle Royal and get a major push by eliminating most of the entrants; including WWE’s current monster, Braun Strowman.
