Brandon Royval is 2-0 in the Octagon, following his fight tonight at UFC 253, as “Raw Dawg” scored a win over Kai Kara-France in an absolute barn burner.
Round one
Kara-France planted a hard leg kick not long into the bout that caught Royval off balance. Royval started pressuring and firing hard shots and in an ensuing scramble, he appeared to tag Kara-France with a spinning elbow. Royval also appeared to eat a huge right.
Royval started working an omoplata but Kara-France worked his way out. Royval took the top position but Kara-France eventually worked his way up and out. Royval continued to pressure with combos and Kara-France looked to counter. Great action.
Moments later, Royval cracked Kara-France with a knee and started hunting for a choke. Kara-France defended, however, and got back to his feet. Kara-France threatened with some heavy shots but Royval continued to move forward. Kara-France fired in a huge right that Royval just ate.
Round two
The fighters continued to offer a ton of volume in round two. Kara-France changed levels and looked for a takedown, but Royval sunk in a guillotine choke. Moments later Kara-France tapped. What a win. What a fight.
Royval made his UFC debut this past May and submitted Tim Elliott.
