A big name was missing from WrestleMania 36 this year -Rey Mysterio. While many assumed the WWE superstar had come down with the coronavirus, the Luchador has now officially denied that assumption.
So, why did Rey Mysterio miss Wrestlemania 36?
Rey Mysterio Reveals All During Interview With Fox Sports MX

According to Mysterio, he started to feel ill shortly after the WWE moved to the WWE Performance Center. At the time, he did not show any signs of the coronavirus. So, the doctors told him to stay home as a precaution.
Missed Title Opportunity At WrestleMania 36
Mysterio had the chance of regaining the United States Championship at WrestleMania. Unfortunately, due to his illness, he missed out on this opportunity.
The feud between Andrade and Rey Mysterio has been really interesting. It has also done wonders for the status of Andrade within the company.
Since the Street Profits retained the titles at WrestleMania, Andrade is free to compete for the United States Championship again. So, we might end up with Andrade and Rey Mysterio again at SummerSlam.
Mysterio was still missed at WrestleMania though. In fact, Darryl Sutter really missed him.
Darryl Sutter posted a photo on his social media sporting a Rey Mysterio mask on WrestleMania’s second night.

WWE Continues To Protect Its Superstars Against The Coronavirus
Despite going ahead with WrestleMania and television tapings, the WWE continues to protect its superstars against the coronavirus. The company is trying to keep its superstars in the same hotel, to avoid encounters with others as much as possible.
In addition to the hotel arrangements, the company has also focused on sanitizing the Performance Center. Some of the measures they have taken include changing the ropes, turnbuckles, canvas, and aprons between matches.
To keep its superstars safe, the WWE is using a combination of sanitizing solutions and ultraviolet light. However, there is no absolute guarantee COVID-19 won’t get into the Performance Center.
Going Back To Normal?
There are rumors that the WWE may return to regular television tapings soon. I have to be honest though, I don’t think it is possible just yet.
The current sanitation efforts for the WWE Performance Center are too intensive to quickly execute during television tapings. They would also need more people in the production room.
While live television is out of the question at the moment, we can still enjoy the product as it is at the moment.
Either way, I am looking forward to seeing Rey Mysterio again and in particular seeing him potentially capturing the United States Championship. Let’s hope it happens.
