After his surprise debut, here are the details about how Andrade landed in AEW. Also, WWE has been speaking about Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam for some time.
Details On Andrade Signing With AEW
The biggest takeaway from Friday’s AEW Dynamite was the debut of Andrade. While him signing with AEW was not a shock, there were no clues it was coming.
Now, Wrestling Inc has exclusive news about the entire process. The week Andrade was released by WWE in March, he met with Tony Khan in Florida.
Typically, Khan does not speak to talent that are under a 90 non-compete clause. Although, Andrade did not have one and could have signed anywhere the day he was let go.
Khan was apparently determined to sign Andrade right away. But, negotiations took longer than Khan hoped because of Andrade’s demands.
Originally, he wanted creative control and the ability to veto a loss. Eventually, the two sides were able to meet in the middle.
Andrade will have some creative control, but it is limited to some of the finishes. Another big takeaway was the wrestler being allowed to compete for other promotions outside of WWE.

Details On Andrade Signing With Promotions Besides AEW
Besides AEW, Impact Wresting and Ring Of Honor (ROH) had interest. Impact Wrestling was okay with the creative control aspect, but the number of dates he would work and the amount of money was a big issue.
At one point, Impact Wrestling was close to making a deal based on one-off appearances. There were no details on how close ROH was to signing him, but money might have been a problem.
Andrade officially signed with AEW at some point over the last seven days. The two sides were finalizing how the contract was worded.
Like many, Andrade shined in NXT as he was their World Champion. He had a small push on the main roster, but that quickly went south.
After splitting from Zelina Vega and Angel Garza, he sat around without being booked. Then, WWE finally accepted his release.
Brock Lesnar – SummerSlam
We know SummerSlam will come from Las Vegas on a Saturday and fans will be present. As for the card, WWE has not moved forward with any angles.
Andrew Zarian on the Mat Men podcast stated that when WWE began talking about the card, Brock Lesnar was mentioned.
As of now, Lesnar is not booked for the show. Although, people have been noticing the promos between Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre.
In particular, Lashley has mentioned Lesnar’s name several times. This has led to speculation of Lesnar vs. Lashley at the biggest party of the summer.
Lesnar has not competed since losing at WrestleMania 36 about 14 months ago. During that time, his contract did exspire.
It is also not known if Lesnar has signed a new WWE deal. The belief is Lesnar will return to WWE as Vince McMahon would offer tons of cash to keep him from the competition.
Also rumored for SummerSlam is John Cena against Universal Champion Roman Reigns and rapper Cardi B as the host.
