Carlos Condit announced his retirement from MMA. The news was confirmed by MMA Fighting.

Condit faced off against some of the best welterweights in the world during his career. He won the WEC welterweight belt and defended it three times.

Upon joining the UFC, Condit became an interim UFC welterweight champion. He lost his Octagon debut but one fight in a row, including a decision victory over Nick Diaz.

Condit, though, was unable to unify the belts, falling to Georges St-Pierre. From there, he fought Robbie Lawler in one of the most memorable fights in MMA history.

In July, Condit had his two-fight win streak snapped by Max Griffin. He leaves the sport 32-14 overall with 28 victories via finish.

Aldo waiting for Dillashaw

Former UFC champion Jose Aldo plans to wait for TJ Dillashaw for his next opponent.

Aldo, in an interview with MMA Fighting, stated that the UFC asked him about facing Dominick Cruz next.

It is possible that Dillashaw gets the winner of Aljamain Sterling vs. Petr Yan for the title, which would leave 2022 at the earliest for his return.

“I heard some reporters talking about this fight (with Cruz) but I think we’re both going different directions,” Aldo said. “He’s more dedicated to (UFC) broadcasts than his own fighting career. I don’t think about fighting Dominick today. I respect him, I also like him for the fact he’s one of the greatest bantamweight champions, but right now I’m heading towards the title. There’s no reason why I’ll stop and do a fight that will take me nowhere. It’s more likely for me to fight Rob Font than Dominick Cruz.”

Ferguson gets the Twitter treatment

Seemingly out of nowhere, Tony Ferguson started trending on Twitter this week.

Well, it turns out the podcast The Friendly Sparring Podcast Twitter account is to blame. They started a joke about Ferguson being cast in movie ideas, and the rest followed.
