The country music legend Alan Jackson has been battling some serious health issues as of late. That’s why it’s come as a surprise that he’s announced that he’ll be extending his “Last Call: One More for the Road Tour.”
Jackson’s Huge Announcement
Jackson, 65, had originally kicked off this farewell tour back in 2022, but he wants to keep it going.
“Fans know when they come to my shows, they’re going to hear the songs that made me who I am – the ones they love,” he said in a statement posted to his website.
“I’ve been touring for over 30 years — my daughters are all grown, we have one grandchild and one on the way. I’m enjoying spending more time at home,” he added. “But my fans always show up to have a good time, and I’m going to give them the best show I can for this ‘Last Call.’”

Jackson’s Health Struggles
Jackson’s farewell tour is meant to give fans “one final chance” to see him perform live. Fox News reported that Jackson embarked on the tour one year after revealing his battle with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease. This is a degenerative nerve condition that affects his motor skills.
“I have this neuropathy and neurological disease,” he said as he revealed his diagnosis. “It’s genetic that I inherited from my daddy. There’s no cure for it, but it’s been affecting me for years. And it’s getting more and more obvious.”
Jackson went on to explain that the condition has left him feeling “self-conscious” onstage because it impacts his balance.
“I know I’m stumbling around stage now,” he admitted. “I’m having a little trouble balancing, even in front of the microphone. I just feel very uncomfortable.”
Jackson added that it was a “relief” to talk about it so that his fans could know the truth. He hasn’t let this condition hold him back at all, however. Last year, he revealed that new music is on the way from him.
“I’m always scribbling down ideas and thinking about melodies,” he said. “I feel like there’ll be some more music to come, yes.”

Jackson’s History
Jackson was born in 1958 in rural Newnan, Georgia, where he was also raised. His father was a mechanic at the Ford Motor Company assembly plant, and his mother managed a school cafeteria.
In 1979, Jackson married his high school sweetheart Denise, who he is still with to this day. Shortly after the wedding, they moved to Nashville so that he could pursue country music.
Jackson faced years of rejections before he finally scored a recording deal with Arista Records. His debut album, Here in the Real World (1990), was a huge success, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Jackson’s biggest hits include “Where Were You,” “Chattahoochee,” and “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere.” He has won many accolades throughout his career, including two Grammy Awards. In 1995, he was named the CMA Entertainer of the Year.
