Yesterday, we reported that the country music star Morgan Wallen was arrested on Sunday night and charged with multiple felonies after he threw a chair from a rooftop bar in Nashville, Tennessee. Now, experts are saying that Wallen is facing “up to six years” in jail as the truth behind why he threw the chair has been revealed.

Wallen Facing Major Jail Time

Wallen, 30, has been charged with three felony counts of reckless endangerment and one count of disorderly conduct. Rither Alabre, a former New York prosecutor and current partner in the White Collar Defense & Investigation Practice Group at Blank Rome LLP, told Fox News that Wallen could be facing major legal penalties for what he did.

“The felony charges are the most serious ones and could land Wallen in jail for up to six years if he is prosecuted and convicted of those charges,” Alabre explained. “The reckless endangerment counts could have been charged as misdemeanors, which would have made them less serious and exposed Wallen to a maximum of up to 11 months and 29 days in jail.”

“However, a reckless endangerment count can be charged as a class E felony if the alleged act was committed with a deadly weapon,” he added, going on to say that the chair thrown by Wallen “landed close to police officers and other members of the public, was a deadly weapon, and that elevated the charge to an E felony charge.”

“For the Class E felony charges of reckless endangerment, Wallen is facing not less than one year nor more than six years in prison,” Alabre continued. “It appears unlikely that the charges would be completely dismissed against Wallen because, according to some reports, the police reviewed video showing Wallen ‘lunging and throwing an object over the roof’ and some witnesses claimed that they saw him throwing the chair.”

“Given those allegations, the next steps would be for Wallen’s lawyer to engage with prosecutors and try to resolve this matter with a plea to a lesser charge, either a misdemeanor or even possibly a lower charge where he would face little to no jail time,” he concluded.

Here’s Why Wallen Threw The Chair

As for why Wallen threw the chair, sources told Daily Mail that the “Last Night” singer was devastated that his former fiancé Katie “KT” Smith eloped with Luke Scornavacco on April 3, just five days after they got engaged.

“KT’s marriage to Luke last week just crushed him,” one insider said. “Of course he knew they were engaged and eventually going to get married – but eloping just days after they got engaged?”

“Morgan has never gotten over her even though he couldn’t stay faithful to her. And now another man is going to be raising his son,” the source added. “Whatever happened at that bar had to be reality hitting him in the face over losing the love of his life.”

Wallen and Smith dated off and on from December 2016 to November 2019, and they welcomed a son Indigo in 2020.

Wallen’s Arrest

Wallen is accused of throwing a chair from the sixth floor of Eric Church’s new honky-tonk on Broadway in Nashville. Witnesses claim that Wallen laughed after he threw the chair, and he was booked into the Davidson County jail shortly after 12.30am. His bond was set at $15,250, and he was spotted being shielded by umbrellas as he was released around 3.30am.

“At 10:53 pm Sunday evening Morgan Wallen was arrested in downtown Nashville for reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct,” Wallen’s lawyer Worrick Robinson said in a statement. “He is cooperating fully with authorities.”

Wallen is scheduled to appear in court again on May 3. He is also set to perform at the Nissan Stadium in Nashville from May 2 to May 4 as part of his “One Night at a Time” Tour. At the time of this writing, Wallen himself has yet to break his silence about his arrest.
