Hale’s Acting Career
Aside from his work on General Hospital, Hale was known for playing Dr. Roger Coleridge on Ryan’s Hope from 1975 until 1989. He earned Daytime Emmy Award nominations for outstanding supporting actor in a daytime drama series for Ryan’s Hope in 1979 and 1980. Hale also starred in the General Hospital spin-off series Port Charles from 1997 until 2000.
In movies, Hale was best known for playing the Watergate burglar Frank Sturgis in the 1976 film All The President’s Men. The film won four Oscars and was nominated for Best Picture. Hale’s final acting role was in the 2017 movie The Ghost and the Whale.

“You have to be a person before you can be an actor,” he said in an interview in March of 1976.
Hale survived by his nieces and nephews, Lori Brown (Janet Brabham), Max Brabham, Erin Wilson (Laurens) and Marc Brown (Betsy). Please join us in saying a prayer for them during this difficult time.
