Taylor Swift took some time away from her Eras Tour over the weekend to meet with two young victims of the recent stabbing in the British city of Southport. Tragically, the stabbing occurred at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class, and it left three girls dead.
Taylor Meets With Stabbing Victims
While in London for her five sold-out shows at Wembley Stadium, Taylor and her mother Andrea had a meet and greet with the two young victims. They hugged the girls and posed for photos with them. One of the children noticeably had a bandage on her arm with Taylor’s lyric, “You drew stars around my scars,” written on top.
Sami Foster, a mother of young Swifties, uploaded a video of the meeting to TikTok on Sunday. It has since gone viral.
“You drew stars around my scars,” read the caption. “The biggest thankyou to @Taylor Swift and her mum for making the most magical night possible for us all 🫶🏻 thankyou for bringing Hope & Autumn pure happiness last night & always.”
Tragic Stabbing Leaves Three Children Dead
This comes after a 17 year-old attacked a Taylor Swift-themed dance class on July 29. The brutal stabbing left Bebe King, 6, Elsie Dot Stancombe, 7, and Alice Dasilva Aguiar, 9, dead. Meanwhile, an additional nine children and two adults were injured. Taylor reportedly reached out to the families of the deceased victims privately.
“The horror of yesterday’s attack in Southport is washing over me continuously, and I’m just completely in shock,” Swift wrote on her Instagram Story the next day. “The loss of life and innocence, and the horrendous trauma inflicted on everyone who was there, the families and first responders.”
“These were just little kids at a dance class,” she continued. “I am at a complete loss for how to ever convey my sympathies to these families.”
Taylor’s concert in London last Thursday was her first show since the tragedy. She appeared overwhelmed when she took the stage and was cheered on by 92,000 people. Insiders said that it was the “hardest concert of her career.”
“Taylor may not have spoken about Elsie Dot, Alice and Bebe on stage but she has reached out to their families,” a source told The Sun. “It is something that has weighed heavily on her mind.”
Terrorist Attack Thwarted
This comes at an extremely difficult time for Taylor. One week before her London shows, her concerts in Vienna, Austria were cancelled after a terrorist attack was thwarted. Austrian police arrested a 17-year-old male and a 19-year-old male who were allegedly plotting a terror attack at Ernst Happel Stadium. They later arrested an 18 year-old Iraqi and detained a 15 year-old who had knowledge of the terror plot.
One of the suspects reportedly confessed to wanting to “kill as many people as possible outside the concert venue.” The suspects had allegedly been radicalized online by ISIS within the last month.
Taylor is arguably the most popular singer in the world right now. Despite this, she continues to seemingly not let fame go to her head. God bless her for taking the time to meet with some of the victims of this tragic stabbing!
