Meghan Markle, the wife of Prince Harry, has suffered yet another humiliating fail. Indeed, another one of her business ventures has flopped brutally.

Meghan’s Podcast Flops

Meghan’s new podcast “Confessions of a Female Founder” is struggling to even get the low numbers that her previous podcast “Archetypes” pulled in.

Meghan, 43, debuted the first episode of this podcast last Monday. In it, she interviewed the Bumble dating app founder Whitney Wolfe Herd, a longtime friend of hers.

In the days since then, however, Meghan’s podcast has failed to secure the top spot on Spotify. As of Monday morning, it ranked number 10 on Spotify’s general Top Podcasts chart in the U.S. This is a stark contrast to Archetypes, which ranked number 1 after it was released in 2022. Listenership of that podcast quickly declined from there.

Critics Weigh In

Making matters even worse for Meghan, critics have been slamming her new podcast. One even described it as being “stomach-turning.” Others claimed that Meghan didn’t ask the hard-hitting questions that they craved. Instead, they reported that she redirected conversations “towards her own experiences.”

The Times of London‘s columnist James Marriott gave the podcast a one-star review in a scathing column that he titled “Meghan’s vapid lessons in self-love.” In it, he wrote that he was “seized by an urge to beat my head against the wall” after listening to the podcast episode.

“Receiving business advice from a Californian multimillionaire who owes a significant part of her fortune to marrying a prince is about as enjoyable and as illuminating as you would expect,” Marriott wrote.

Meanwhile, The Telegraph‘s TV critic Chris Bennion described Meghan’s podcast as having an “inane stream of mindless aphorisms” with “no confessions or secrets.” The Guardian said the “sycophantic interview podcast is stomach-turning.”

Meghan’s Previous Podcast

This comes after Meghan’s now-defunct 12-episode podcast “Archetypes” was briefly at the top spot at Spotify before she parted ways with the streaming service in 2023. Prior to that, Spotify had given her a massive $20 million deal. Afterwards, Bill Simmons, Spotify’s head of global sports strategy, called both Meghan and Harry “grifters” who are “lazy.”

“I wish I had been involved in the ‘Meghan and Harry leave Spotify’ negotiation,” Simmons said in 2023.

“That’s a podcast we should’ve launched with them,” he continued. “I gotta get drunk one night and tell the story of this Zoom I had with Harry to try to help him with a podcast idea. It’s one of my best stories.”

Meghan and Harry stepped down as senior royals back in 2020. They then moved across the world to Southern California, where Meghan was born and raised.

Since then, Meghan has tried to launch various ventures, including podcasts, a lifestyle brand, and Netflix series. Unfortunately for her, most of them have flopped. That’s why the news about her latest podcast failing to gain traction could not be any worse for Meghan, as she needs a win now more than ever.

In the end, it seems that podcasts might not be the right fit for Meghan. Perhaps it’s time that she tries something else, or just throws in the towel altogether!
