Mark Wahlberg has long been known as one of the only openly devout Christian stars in Hollywood. As we head into Thanksgiving, Wahlberg is getting reflective about what he’s thankful for this year.
Wahlberg Reveals What He’s Thankful For
Wahlberg, 53, spoke out this week to say that he is thankful for his “relationship with God.”
“An opportunity to continue to pursue a purpose-filled life,” he replied when asked by Fox News what he’s thankful for. “A relationship with God and a purpose-filled life.”
“And I know that all of these things are part of the process to bring people together and connect people again and to find out what my purpose really is, and why He’s put me in this position and given me this platform and what to do with it,” Wahlberg continued.
Wahlberg Attributes His Success To Faith
Wahlberg has never been shy when it comes to talking about his faith.
“I have to attribute all my success to my faith,” he said earlier this year. People tend to forget, as a younger man, Wahlberg was often up to no good.
Back in 2023, Wahlberg opened up about how his faith has “allowed” him to become a better version of himself.
“It’s a balance,” he said at the time. “I don’t wanna jam it down anybody’s throat, but I do not deny my faith. That’s an even bigger sin.”
“You know, it’s not popular in my industry, but, you know, I cannot deny my faith,” he added. “It’s important for me to share that with people.”

Wahlberg Doubles Down
Wahlberg doubled down on this in another Fox News interview last year.
“It’s just the most important aspect of my life,” Wahlberg said of his faith. “It’s the most important thing. It’s afforded me all the things that I’ve been able to accomplish in my life — my faith, my discipline.”
Wahlberg also discussed how his Christian faith has impacted his career and his specific acting roles.
“I’ve always said that I hope God is a movie fan,” Wahlberg said. “I mean, I’ve made some movies, whether it be Boogie Nights or even Ted where, you know, they could be a bit questionable. But I also don’t want to compromise my artistic integrity. But as a parent and as a husband, those things definitely weigh into my decision-making. But I do like taking chances and risks.”
That’s why these days, Wahlberg is focused on making family-friendly movies.
“You know, I do enjoy doing things that the whole entire family can see. Look, I’m 52 years old now. I’m a dad of four. I’ve got a kid in college,” he told Yahoo Entertainment back in March. “I like playing age-appropriate roles. I think a lot of people don’t embrace that and audiences are like — this doesn’t seem real.”

Wahlberg Starts Every Day By Praying
On Ash Wednesday this year, Wahlberg told Fox & Friends that he starts every day with prayer.
“People are always asking, ‘what are you giving up?'” Wahlberg stated. “I’ve given many things up for Lent, whether it be… alcohol or something… sweet, but for me, it’s really about trying to do more… trying to be better, trying to grow as a person, as a servant. God, a father, a husband… as an example… and using all that real-life experience that I have.”

We applaud Wahlberg for being one of the few celebrities who uses his platform to spread the word of God. If only we had more stars in Hollywood like him!
