Lisa Marie Presley was just 9 years-old when her legendary father Elvis died in August of 1977 at the age of 42. Now, Lisa Marie’s daughter Riley Keough is speaking out to claim that her mother knew Elvis was going to die before his passing!
Lisa Marie Sensed That Elvis Would Die
Riley, 35, told Oprah Winfrey that the night before Elvis died, Lisa Marie had a “sense” that he would not live much longer.
As fans know, Elvis wasn’t exactly in tip-top shape near the end of his shortened life.
“The morning of Elvis’ death your mother woke up and knew instinctively that something was off,” Oprah said. “You want to tell us about that? She’s nine years old and most of us remember when we were nine years old.”
“Yeah, definitely. I think this is the first time she’s ever talked in detail about his death in the book,” Riley replied. “She said goodnight to him and I think she knew saying ‘goodnight,’ like she had some kind of a sense – I think she had a sense many times that he wasn’t okay.”
“She would tell me that sometimes she would find him in his bathroom looking kind of out of it or holding onto the railing to stand up straight,” Riley continued. “She’d also write these letters when she was little that we have kind of saying, ‘I hope my daddy doesn’t die.’ So there was some kind of sense there.”
Incredible.

Lisa Marie’s Bond With Elvis
Riley went on to say that Graceland was full of chaos in Elvis’ final years.
“But upstairs was only her and her dad,” she explained. “I think she got a lot of intimate time up there with him. No one else was up there.”
This interview was for An Oprah Special: The Presleys—Elvis, Lisa Marie, and Riley, which will air on CBS next Tuesday. Check out a trailer for this special below.

Elvis And Lisa Marie Both Pass
Elvis died of a heart attack on August 16, 1977 at the age of 42. Sadly, Lisa Marie died of a small bowel obstruction on January 12, 2023 at the age of 54. Riley is currently promoting her late mother’s memoir From Here To The Great Unknown, which she helped finish after her passing. The book is set to come out next week.
“I feel very proud and in awe of my mother, she somehow lived in honesty and truth all the time, no matter how uncomfortable that was for her or the people around her,” Riley wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of her mother on Thursday.
“It was a really aspirational quality and just being around it was liberating,” she added. “This is also how she approached her autobiography. I know her intention was to tell a human story and connect to people in telling it. I feel incredibly lucky to have had the chance to finish it for her.”
“FROM HERE TO THE GREAT UNKNOWN is officially out in five days, on 10/8 ♥️,” Riley concluded.
Elvis and Lisa Marie are true legends, and they are still dearly missed by millions of fans to this day. While it’s sad that they are no longer with us, we can all draw comfort in knowing that they are together in Heaven!
