It’s been one week since the pop star Katy Perry went space for eleven minutes as part of Jeff Bezos’ all-female Blue Origin crew. In the days since then, Perry has been met with tons of backlash for taking this space journey. It certainly appears to be backfiring on her in a big way.
Now, things have gotten even worse for Perry, as she’s been hit with a crushing blow. Indeed, Perry just made a heartbreaking announcement to her fans.
Perry’s Concerts Cancelled
Perry, 40, took to her Instagram Story on Monday to reveal that her upcoming concerts in Guadalajara, Mexico that were scheduled to take place on May 1 and May 2 have been cancelled. They are reportedly off because the stadium that was meant to host them was not built in time.
“Sadly, I learned that the construction of Arena Guadalajara will not be complete for their scheduled shows next week, which includes mine on May 1 and 2,” Perry wrote.
“Last week I sent my team to the Arena to make sure there wasn’t anything we could do to make this happen but it was evident when they arrived that the venue was not ready or safe to receive my show or an audience,” she continued.
“I wish I could fix this but it is beyond my control,” Perry concluded. “You guys mean the world to me and we have all been on such a beautiful journey together that I will be thinking about how I can create something special for the fans in Guadalajara in the future. I love you ALL.”

Perry’s Upcoming Tour
Perry had been planning to perform these Guadalaraja shows as part of her Lifetimes world tour. This was meant to be her third stop in Mexico after performing three concerts in Mexico City, followed by two in Monterrey.
Perry is preparing to kick off her American tour in Houston on May 7. She is then scheduled to perform 25 concerts all over the United States. After performing in Australia and Canada, Perry will then launch the European leg of her tour in October.
The bad news about Perry’s cancelled concerts came exactly one week after she took part in the all-female Blue Origin mission to space. She was joined by CBS Mornings host Gayle King, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, filmmaker Kerianne Flynn, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen and Jeff Bezos’ fiancée, Lauren Sánchez.

Blue Origin Mission Backlash
Unfortunately for Perry and the other five women, they have since been met with serious backlash. They seemed to have harmless intentions in going to space. However, the bulk of the public believes that the mission was both “tone deaf” and “embarrassing.” Of the six women, Perry in particular seems to have been singled out. Indeed, she appears to have been hit with the most backlash by far.
“Hey Tim Dillion, I’m much better now that the ladies are back from space, thank you,” Joe Rogan sarcastically said on his popular podcast released Saturday. “It was very profound. I don’t know if you’ve seen Katy Perry talk about it, but she’s basically a guru now.”
Rogan went on to mock Perry for bringing a daisy on her space flight. This was meant to honor her four year-old daughter Daisy. She shares the child with her former Lord Of The Rings star fiancé Orlando Bloom.
“She brought a daisy, which is super important. It shows you how quick the flight was,” Rogan said. “The dead daisy that’s like snipped from its life source was still alive or still vibrant.”
Given all the backlash that Perry is currently receiving, the bad news about her Mexico concerts is likely the last thing she needs. Only time will tell if Perry is able to bounce back from all of this!
