The country music star Jelly Roll has been on a weight loss journey that has seen him lose a whopping 100 pounds. While this is commendable, there have been some fears that Jelly Roll’s weight loss will cause fans who preferred him at a larger size to turn on him.
Strange, but what isn’t these days?
Jelly Roll Shuts Down Weight Loss Backlash Fears
On Monday, Jelly Roll went on his wife Bunnie Xo’s “Dumb Blonde” podcast to shoot these concerns down. He wants to make it clear that he’s not afraid that being open about his weight loss could negatively impact his country music career.
“I did this publicly for a reason,” said Jelly Roll, 40. “I want to be honest about my struggles with it with people. I wore it for so long.”
“I think that people that become as big as I became, when they lose the weight, they’re kind of ashamed,” he continued. “They’re so ashamed that they go and hide and lose the weight, and then they come back out, and they don’t really know how to interact with the world, looking different or feeling different, you know? And they kind of got to find their whole new way.”
That’s why Jelly Roll decided to take the exact opposite approach.
“I wanted to lose it in front of everybody,” he explained. “I wanted to talk about it. This is constantly what I’m putting in the air because I want to bring people along with me.”
If there’s anything America could use, it’s more examples like Jelly Roll. After all, over 30% of Americans are obese.

Bunnie XO Worried About The ‘Fat Effect’
Jelly Roll went on to talk about a recent conversation he had with his wife. Indeed, it seems that Bunnie XO had her concerns about fans’ reactions to her husband’s weight loss as well.
“One night you said something to the effect of, ‘Are you worried about the ’fat effect’? And that most Hollywood stars who have lost a large amount of weight ended up not getting placed in their career,” Jelly Roll recalled. “What I want the world to know, and I want the people to see, Bunnie, is that I didn’t become successful because of my weight, I became successful in spite of it.”
“I somehow managed to be this successful with carrying 550 pounds,” he added. “That’s insane.”
Jelly Roll also isn’t done with his weight loss journey, as he has a big goal in mind for his future.
“I wanna be on the cover of ‘Men’s Health’ by March of 2026,” Jelly Roll concluded. “That’s my new goal. So I wanna have one of the biggest transformations.”

Jelly Roll Has Lost 140 Pounds
This came after Jelly Roll revealed to his wife that he’s lost 140 pounds.
“I cannot believe I walked around like a 550-lb. zombie for years,” Jelly Roll admitted. “I’m still morbidly obese. But I’m gonna lose the weight, I’m going to keep getting it off like I have been.”
As for how he lost the weight, Jelly Roll did it the natural way.
“I want to be very clear that I’ve done it naturally, but it wasn’t out of stubbornness or trying to prove a point,” he stated, adding that he has no issue with anyone using weight-loss aids such as Ozempic. “Every doctor I’ve talked to is for it.”
As a singer, however, he couldn’t risk the acid reflux, which is a major side effect of Ozempic.
“Few things scare me more than acid reflux,” Jelly Roll confessed “That stuff will just trip the vocal cords. If it helps you, go get it. But for me, I was just petrified of the side effects of it.”
Jelly Roll’s weight loss is nothing short of inspiring. We wish him the best of luck as his weight loss journey continues!
