Clint Eastwood is one of the most legendary Hollywood actors and directors of all time. That’s why it should come as no surprise that his son Scott decided to follow in his footsteps and go into the business himself.

As you’d expect, Clint had some good advice to share, having been in the movie biz for decades.

Clint Eastwood’s Acting Advice For Scott

In a new interview, Scott revealed the powerful piece of advice that Clint, 94, gave him when he learned that he wanted to go into acting.

“Follow your gut,” Scott, 38, told People Magazine when asked about his dad’s words of wisdom.

Scott is one of Clint’s eight children by six different women. His mother is the former flight attendant Jacelyn Reeves. Scott has already achieved great success in Hollywood. He’s known for his work in movies like Suicide Squad and Pacific Rim: Uprising.

In the past, Scott has been open about the advice his father has given him about the movie business. In 2016, he talked about the things that he learned growing up with Clint as his dad.

“My father’s definitely old-school,” he told Esquire at the time. “And he raised me with integrity — to be places on time, show up and work hard.”

Clint’s Career Advice For Scott

Back in 2022, Scott claimed to Insider that his father told him not to do a Suicide Squad sequel. Clint reportedly advised his son against this after Scott said that he felt he wasn’t getting paid enough money.

Warner Bros. had offered Scott a three-movie deal that included The Suicide Squad. However, he turned it down because “they didn’t want to pay me any money for those next movies.”

“They didn’t have another script for the other movie, so I didn’t know what I was going to be signing myself up for,” he alleged.

When Scott told his father that “they don’t want to pay me,” Clint had a blunt response.

“If it feels like they really need you and if it’s a good part, then do it. If not, then don’t'” the Oscar-winner replied.

“I didn’t have the answer to those questions at that time,” Scott admitted. “I wasn’t going to have the answers, and they were pressuring me. So ultimately it didn’t happen.”

In other words – Scott followed his gut, just like Dad said.

Scott has also indicated that he may follow Clint’s lead in going behind the camera as a director someday.

“Like he says, it’s feast or famine for an actor,” Scott previously said. “If you’re not creating your own material, then you’re just fighting for whatever’s out there. I definitely have the desire to go to the other side.”

Scott Updates Fans On How Clint Is Doing

This comes at a difficult time for Clint. Back in July, his longtime girlfriend Christina Sandera died of a heart attack at the age of 61. Last month, Scott was asked by E! News how his father was handling her death.

“He is doing OK,” Scott replied. “Thank you for asking.”

When asked how the entire family is coping with Christina’s passing, Scott simply replied, “Everyone is great.”

It seems that just like his dad, Scott prefers to keep his family’s personal lives and feelings private. We certainly can’t blame him for that.

We will continue to keep Clint and his family in our thoughts and prayers. It will also certainly be interesting to see where Scott’s Hollywood career takes him in the years to come!
