Clint Eastwood may be 94 years-old, but he’s still making his mark on Hollywood. Indeed, his final directorial movie Juror #2 is currently in theaters after debuting to rave reviews.
So what’s the secret to his success? Going against the grain!
Eastwood Avoids ‘Pandering’
Over his seven decade career in film, Eastwood has managed to achieve great success despite never “pandering” to Hollywood.
“Eastwood approaches them in a way that avoids preachiness or pandering,” Gary Frayter, celebrity brand & social media director with Kronus Communications, told Fox News. “Instead, he shows how individuals can change over time through personal experiences and relationships.”
“This subtle commentary allows the film to appeal to viewers who may be looking for a powerful message but prefer it woven naturally into the story,” Frayter added.
Eastwood has never been afraid to portray morally complex characters. These characters include the title role in Dirty Harry, coach Frankie Dunn in Million Dollar Baby, or Robert Kincaid in The Bridges of Madison County.
“In Gran Torino, his character is flawed and unapologetically raw,” Frayter said. “This complexity is something Eastwood is known for and is evident in many of his films. That particular movie doesn’t offer easy answers, but instead presents a character whose moral growth and sacrifice feels genuine, which audiences find refreshing and realistic.”

Difficult Time For Eastwood
This comes at a difficult time for Eastwood. His beloved girlfriend Christina Sandera, who he had dated for a decade, died of a heart attack back in July. Despite the suddenness of this tragedy, Eastwood is managing to cope with it well.
“He is the strongest person that I know,” his daughter Francesca Eastwood, 31, said last month. “It’s never easy when things like this happen. And he’s himself, and he’s handled things with grace and with a beauty that I think few other people could.”
Clint has only addressed Christina’s death publicly in a brief statement after she died.
“Christina was a lovely, caring woman, and I will miss her very much,” he said at the time.
Clint’s 27 year-old daughter Morgan, who is the youngest of his eight children, also spoke out to pay tribute to Christina.
“A devastating loss for our whole family,” she said. “Thank you Christina for being a good partner to my Dad, you will be greatly missed.”

Juror #2
Juror #2 is set to be the final movie that Eastwood directs after over 70 years in Hollywood. The movie reportedly follows “family man Justin Kemp who, while serving as a juror in a high profile murder trial, finds himself struggling with a serious moral dilemma…one he could use to sway the jury verdict and potentially convict, or free the wrong killer,” according to IMDb.
Kemp will be played by Nicholas Hoult, while the role of the prosecutor will be played by the former Sixth Sense actress Toni Collette. Other stars appearing in the movie include Leslie Bibb, Kiefer Sutherland, Gabriel Basso, Zoey Deutch, and Chris Messina.
“You think you’re going to get some tough guy and he is completely gentle and calm and fun and cracking jokes, and a lot of the crew members — [for example], the craft services woman has been with him for 22 years,” Messina told People Magazine of Eastwood back in December of last year.
“He was awesome. I really loved him,” he continued. “93 years old and completely with it, great notes, up on his feet behind the camera — just a badass. It was super inspiring.”
While Eastwood is retiring from directing, he hasn’t said anything about retiring from acting. Here’s hoping that we get to enjoy Eastwood on our screens for many years to come!
