Hollywood star Sharon Stone has made the shocking revelation that she lost a whopping $18 million after she nearly died from a stroke in 2001. Things became so dire for her that she reportedly “had zero money.”

Stone, 66, revealed to the Hollywood Reporter that it took her seven years to recover from the financial fallout from the health crisis that almost killed her.

Stone ‘Had Zero Money’

“People took advantage of me over that time,” the Basic Instinct star said. “I had $18 million saved because of all my success, but when I got back into my bank account, it was all gone. My refrigerator, my phone — everything was in other people’s names.”

“I had zero money,” she added.

In 2001, Stone suffered a nine-day brain bleed that resulted in a 1% chance of survival. She later claimed that doctors accused her of “faking it,” and almost sent her home. Thankfully, they reevaluated Stone and realized their mistake before immediately sending her in for brain surgery.

Afterwards, Stone had to step away from acting for two years to recover. Despite this harrowing ordeal, the Casino star isn’t bitter about what went down.

“I decided to stay present and let go,” she explained. “I decided not to hang onto being sick or to any bitterness or anger. If you bite into the seed of bitterness, it never leaves you. But if you hold faith, even if that faith is the size of a mustard seed, you will survive.”

“So, I live for joy now,” she continued. “I live for purpose.”

Stone Believes She Was ‘Reincarnated’ After Stroke

Stone also believes that the stroke left her a changed person forever.

“A Buddhist monk told me that I had been reincarnated into my same body. I had a death experience and then they brought me back,” she recalled. “I bled into my brain for nine days, so my brain was shoved to the front of my face. It wasn’t positioned in my head where it was before.”

“And while that was happening, everything changed,” she added. “My sense of smell, my sight, my touch. I couldn’t read for a couple of years. Things were stretched, and I was seeing color patterns. A lot of people thought I was going to die.”

However, Stone feels that “the good part” that came about from her stroke was that she divorced her second husband, news editor Phil Bronstein.

“That was the upside,” she said.

Stone ‘Lost Everything She Had’

Stone previously said that she “lost everything she had” after her stroke.

“I lost my place in the business. I was like the hottest movie star, you know?” Stone told Variety in 2019. “It was like Miss Princess Diana and I were so famous — and she died and I had a stroke. And we were forgotten.”

“You find yourself at the back of the line in your business, as I did. You have to figure yourself out all over again,” she added.

Stone is someone who is clearly very lucky to be alive. Please join us in saying a prayer that nothing like this stroke happens to her again!
