It’s been seventeen years since the country music star Reba McEntire’s iconic sitcom Reba went off the air. Now, McEntire is preparing to star in a new sitcom for NBC called Happy’s Place. She’s just made an announcement about this new show that fans are sure to love.
McEntire To Sing Theme Song For New Sitcom
Just like she did with Reba, McEntire will be singing the sitcom for Happy’s Place!
“It’s written, and we’re recording it at the end of this month. We’ll see if you like it,” McEntire, 69, told The Hollywood Reporter.
McEntire famously sang “I’m a Survivor” for Reba during the six seasons that it was on the air. The song famously features lyrics about a hard-working single mom, and it remains popular on TikTok and other social media platforms to this day.
McEntire will be reuniting with her former Reba costar Melissa Peterman for this new show.
“Ever since we stopped doing Reba, we’ve been looking for another project to do,” McEntire gushed. “I love the sitcom genre. Out of all the things I do, this is my favorite.”

‘We’re So Excited’
McEntire previously described filming the pilot of her new sitcom back in May.
“The cast is wonderful. We’re so excited,” she told Entertainment Tonight at the time. “We shot the pilot and everybody said, ‘You know, this is like a second season first episode instead of the pilot and that’s the way I felt. Everybody gelled, everybody got along, and the writing is wonderful, so I’m really happy. I’m so happy.”
Peterman is also ecstatic to be reuniting with McEntire.
“It’s just easy, it’s like riding a bike,” she said on Sunday. “We’ve never really left each other. I mean, the show ended, and we’ve been friends ever since.”
In Happy’s Place, McEntire plays Bobbie, a woman who inherits her father’s restaurant after his death. Much to her dismay, Bobbie learns that she has a new business partner in the half-sister (Belissa Escobedo), who she previously didn’t know existed. Peterman will be playing a bartender at the restaurant.

McEntire’s Acting Experience
Though McEntire is best known for her country music career, she’s been acting quite a bit in recent years. Her latest credits include the recurring role of June in Young Sheldon on CBS, the part of Sunny Barnes in Season 3 of Big Sky on ABC and the role of Kim Wheeler in the Lifetime movie Reba McEntire’s The Hammer. On top of all that, she’s also a judge on The Voice on NBC.
McEntire had been trying to score another sitcom ever since Reba ended back in 2007.
“We’ve really been trying hard to do a reboot of the Reba show,” she said in 2022, according to Parade. “I really want to work with the people that I got to work with during that six and a half years.”‘
Happy’s Place is set to premiere on NBC on Friday, October 18. If you’re as big of a fan of McEntire as we are, be sure to check it out!
