Jamie Foxx recently opened up about a health scare that occurred last year, leaving him hospitalized for 20 days.

In a video shared on X, the Django Unchained actor can be seen talking about the health scare during an outing in Phoenix, Arizona.

He revealed that in April of 2023, he experienced a “bad headache” and asked his friend for an Advil.

Shortly after taking the medication, he lost consciousness and was hospitalized for 20 days. He stated that he doesn’t remember anything from that period.

“Look, April 11 last year, bad headache, asked my boy for an Advil,” Foxx said snapping his fingers. “I was gone for 20 days.”

Source Of Jamie Foxx Medical Emergency Still Unknown

While this video has shed some light on the events leading up to the mysterious health scare that left fans and the media speculating about Jamie Foxx’s condition, it doesn’t define the nature of the emergency.

“I don’t remember anything,” he said. “So they told me – I’m in Atlanta – they told me, my sister and my daughter, they took me to the first doctor and they said… ‘nah,’ gave me a cortisone shot.”

“The next doctor said, ‘Something’s going on up there.’ I won’t say it on camera, I won’t say it on camera. But it was …”

Neither Foxx nor his representatives have ever specifically said what happened to the actor, who disappeared from the public eye for many months over the incident, but has slowly been making a comeback.

Didn’t Want Fans To See Him That Way

Corinne Foxx, the In Living Color actor’s daughter, posted on social media a day after the Advil incident that he was recovering from a medical issue.

“Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery,” she wrote, urging fans to give the family some privacy as her father fights through it.

In a July Instagram post, Jamie Foxx grew emotional discussing the undisclosed medical issue and said he didn’t want fans to see him in that condition.

“I went through something that I thought I would never, ever go through,” he said. “I know a lot of people were waiting, or wanting to hear updates, and to be honest with you – I just didn’t want you to see me like that.”

The closest the public has come to learning what happened is a report by Good Morning America indicating the star was treated in a “physical rehab facility in Chicago” that specializes in “strokes and brain injuries”.

Jamie Foxx, a few months after the medical emergency, began working on a campaign with the MGM Resorts-connected sports betting company BetMGM. He shared a photo of himself on a yacht and teased “big things coming soon.”

He is currently listed on IMDB as working on several projects, including wrapping up filming on Back in Action, the film he was working on with Cameron Diaz at the time he was put out of action.
