Katy Perry left American Idol earlier this year after serving as a judge on the reality television singing competition show for seven seasons. Now, her fellow judge Luke Bryan is speaking out to tease who her replacement might be.

Bryan Discusses Perry’s Replacement

“I’ve said several names,” Bryan, 47, told Billboard.

“I think Pink has been in the talks, Miley Cyrus has been in the talks, Meghan Trainor has been in the talks,” he continued.

Bryan went on to say that Perry was so “perfect for the job” that replacing her on American Idol will not be easy. He added that Disney has been “really tightlipped” about the selection process with himself, fellow judge Lionel Richie and host Ryan Seacrest.

“I think they’re just working real hard to find somebody that can really come in and do the job that Katy did,” Bryan stated. “We currently haven’t heard what the story is on who’s coming back, and if Lionel and I are coming back.”

American Idol Is Trainor’s ‘Dream Job’

This comes one month after Trainor, 30, said on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen that being a judge on American Idol would be her “dream job.”

“I have emailed three awesome people who work in that world who don’t really have the final say. I have begged for this job . . . it’s my favorite show. I’ve watched it since I was a child,” she said at the time. “I haven’t heard any updates, so check my emails . . . I want to drive to work on American Idol and then drive home.”

Pink And Kelly Clarkson Speak Out

Meanwhile, Pink told Entertainment Tonight that she doesn’t see herself as a good fit for American Idol because she likes her day job of performing too much.

“I don’t like hurting people’s feelings [either],” she explained.

Last month, the original American Idol Kelly Clarkson, who won season one back in 2002, shut down speculation that she might be Perry’s replacement.

“No. No. I can’t do that, only because I promised my kids,” she said. “I was like, ‘I wanna be there as much as I possibly can.’ And it would put me in LA.”

Perry Leaves American Idol

Perry announced back in February that the 22nd season of American Idol would be her last.

“Well, you know, this fall, this September, I’m going to be doing this huge music festival in Brazil called Rock in Rio. It’s really exciting,” she said. “It’s a big deal for people all over the world, especially my Brazilian fans. So I think this will probably be my last season for Idol.”

“I love Idol so much,” she added. “It’s connected me with the heart of America. But I need to feel that pulse of my own beat.”

Perry bid an emotional goodbye to American Idol fans when she said goodbye on the season finale back in May.

“It’s been an amazing journey, all seven seasons, thank you for inviting me into your homes, letting your kids watch even though you were probably a little nervous with it being me,” she said, according to ABC7. “I love America and I’m so excited to go back out to all of America to tour one of these days soon.”

Season 25 of American Idol is set to premiere in 2025. It will certainly be interesting to see who Perry’s replacement will be!
