Last week, we reported that Clint Eastwood’s longtime partner Christina Sandera had died at the age of 61. Now, some bad news has come in about Juror No. 2, which is set to be the final movie that Eastwood, 94, will direct in his Hollywood career.

Juror No. 2’s Release Delayed

Eastwood reportedly wrapped post-production on Juror No. 2 back in April. At the time, Warner Bros. executives were said to be “thrilled” with the footage that he had shown them. This all led fans to believe that Juror No. 2 would likely be released in the fall, just in time for the 2025 awards season.

Unfortunately, however, it now seems that this will not be happening after all.

“FWIW — for Oscar prediction purposes — I’ve been told Clint Eastwood’s JUROR NO. 2 will NOT bow in this calendar year,” Variety’s Clayton Davis wrote on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

“Obviously, that can change, but I think it’s safe to remove TONI COLLETTE (for now),” he added. This was a reference to Juror No. 2’s star, the Australian actress Toni Collette. Many had been hoping that she would garner awards buzz for this film.

Davis went on to explain the possible reasoning behind the delayed release of Eastwood’s final movie:

Juror No. 2

Juror No. 2 is reportedly set to be a legal thriller, and it also stars Nicholas Hoult, Kiefer Sutherland, Leslie Bibb, and Chris Messina.

“Family man Justin Kemp who, while serving as a juror in a high profile murder trial, finds himself struggling with a serious moral dilemma…one he could use to sway the jury verdict and potentially convict, or free the wrong killer,” the film’s official IMDb description reads.

Though he was 93 during filming, Eastwood was still as sharp as ever as a director.

“You think you’re going to get some tough guy and he is completely gentle and calm and fun and cracking jokes, and a lot of the crew members — [for example], the craft services woman has been with him for 22 years,” Messina told People Magazine of Eastwood back in December.

“He was awesome. I really loved him,” he continued. “93 years old and completely with it, great notes, up on his feet behind the camera — just a badass. It was super inspiring.”

Eastwood’s Longtime Partner Passes Away

This comes at a difficult time for Eastwood. His longtime partner Christina Sandera, who he’d been with since 2014, died last week at the age of 61.

“Christina was a lovely, caring woman, and I will miss her very much,” Eastwood said afterwards in a brief statement addressing her passing.

A Warner Bros. spokesperson has since told The Hollywood Reporter that Eastwood will not be making any further comments on this. He reportedly plans to grieve for Sandera privately. No cause of death for her has been reported publicly at this time.
