The dynamic Hollywood duo of Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are officially reuniting for a new movie.

Affleck and Damon are set to star in the new Netflix thriller RIP. The movie will be directed and written Joe Carnahan. Plot details about this film are being kept under wraps at this time, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

It will be produced by Artists Equity, the artist-led studio that Affleck and Damon founded together in 2022. Other projects that Artists Equity currently has in the works include Small Things Like These, which is a sequel to Affleck’s The Accountant that will star the Oppenheimer leading actor Cillian Murphy.

Other Artists Equity projects in the pipeline are the Jennifer Lopez-led films Unstoppable and Kiss of the Spider Woman.

Affleck has been married to Lopez since 2022.

Affleck And Damon’s History

Affleck and Damon have been best friends since they were children growing up in Massachusetts. They have collaborated many times over the years. Most notably, they co-wrote and starred in 1997’s Good Will Hunting. This movie landed them both Oscars for best original screenplay and sent them into the stratosphere of fame.

Affleck and Damon later starred in Ridley Scott’s 2021 historical drama The Last Duel alongside Jodie Comer and Adam Driver. Most recently, they collaborated on the 2023’s sports drama Air, which Affleck directed.

Back in 2021, Affleck credited his decades-long friendship with Damon with keeping him sane.

“My own kind of sanity and mental health really benefited from having someone who I grew up with and knew as a child who was also going through something similar — this 20-year-plus journey of being in the public eye — who I could reflect on it with honestly, talk things over with, be myself with, who I knew why we were friends, why he was interested and loved me, why I loved him,” he told GQ.

Indeed, Damon was quick to agree. He explained that he doesn’t typically like to discuss their friendship publicly because of how much it means to him.

“I don’t want to be his friend in public, you know what I mean?” he said. “It’s way too important a friendship for that, and it goes so beyond this career or anything. You know, it’s a significant part of my life and not for public consumption in that way.”

Affleck Leans On Damon Amidst Alleged Marital Troubles

These days, Affleck may be leaning on Damon more than ever amidst rumors that he and Lopez are heading for divorce after just two years of marriage.

“He has been leaning on Matt Damon and his close circle of guy friends,” a source told OK! Magazine last month. “Matt is always in Ben’s corner and is supportive of him.”

“Ben’s been leaning on Matt a lot lately when it comes to everything he’s going through with Jennifer,” a different insider told US Weekly. “Matt knows there isn’t much he can do aside from listening and just being there for Ben. He’ll always support his friend no matter what.”

If the rumors about his marriage are true, perhaps a collaboration with Damon is exactly what Affleck needs right now. We can’t wait to see what they bring to RIP when it finally hits Netflix in the future!
