Heart’s lead singer, the legendary rocker Ann Wilson, has made the sad announcement that she is currently battling cancer.

Wilson, 74, made this tragic announcement on Instagram. She revealed to her fans that she will be starting chemotherapy after having surgery.

“Dear friends, I recently underwent an operation to remove something that, as it turns out, was cancerous,” Ann wrote.

“The operation was successful & I’m feeling great but my doctors are now advising me to undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy & I’ve decided to do it,” she added.

Heart Cancels Tour

Ann’s complications are why Heart has cancelled their Royal Flush Tour alongside Cheap Trick, which was slated to begin on July 30 in Cleveland and run into December.

Ann has not revealed what specific type of cancer she’s battling at the time of this writing.

Heart Previously Cancelled Tour Dates

Ann and her sister Nancy Wilson, 70, previously cancelled a series of concerts in June and July throughout Europe citing medical problems. At the time, they said that Ann “had to undergo a time-sensitive but routine medical procedure.”

Ann had tried to assure her fans that there was nothing to worry about.

“I’m okay! Please don’t worry,” she wrote on social media. “I do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. It’s certainly an inconvenience for me. Love & respect always, Ann.”

Ann and Nancy have been the two main singers in Heart ever since the band formed back in the 1970s. Since then, Heart has sold over 35 million records worldwide. Their biggest hits include “What About Love,” “These Dreams,” and “Alone.”

Heart has been nominated for four Grammy Awards and sold over 50 million records around the world. This includes 22.5 million albums in the United States.

“HELLO beloved Heartmongers and noble Heart fans!” Nancy wrote. “Happy to let you all know that the HEART tour is still coming your way, but we need to take a temporary pause and postpone the remaining HEART tour dates for now. Rescheduled dates are on the way so stay tuned.”

“From the end of the world to your town!” she added. “See you guys soon. Can’t wait. Love rules.”

This is clearly a very difficult time for Ann and her family and friends. Please join us in saying a prayer for her as she continues her cancer battle!
