Actress Lisa Kudrow says she could never watch re-runs of Friends because it was simply too embarrassing to see her work on screen.

Following the death of co-star Matthew Perry, however, she has begun taking it all in again as a means to keep her friend’s memory alive.

“Honestly, I wasn’t able to watch it because it’s too embarrassing to watch yourself. But if I make it about Matthew, then that’s OK,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “And it’s just celebrating how hilarious he was — and that is what I want to remember [about him].”

Kudrow played the ditzy Phoebe Buffay on the sitcom. Perry, at just 24 years old, began his most famous role as Chandler Bing.

Kudrow Has High Praise For Friends Cast, Especially Matthew Perry

Kudrow, who was good friends with Matthew Perry behind the scenes, is finding ways to deal with his tragic death this past October.

Watching him on television is somewhat heartbreaking, but Kudrow has a positive take. She praises the entire cast for their comedic abilities and alludes to the nearly family-like bond they all shared while filming the hit series.

“You’re just laughing all day long, basically, in between the scenes, because these are funny people. And especially someone like Matthew, whose goal was: How many laughs can I get in real life every day?” she explained.

“So we were always laughing so hard, tears were flying out of our faces.”

Kudrow also says the re-runs now fill her with joy.

“I’m laughing out loud, and everyone is hilarious. I’m blown away by Courteney Cox, I’m blown away by Jen. Matthew, obviously, is just uniquely hilarious,” she said. “No one ever knew that cadence or comedic rhythm before him.”

“Matt LeBlanc is hilarious. And David Schwimmer, too,” Kudrow continued. “Sometimes I even laugh at what I’ve done.”

Charges Coming In His Death?

Matthew Perry’s death in itself is a tragedy, especially for a man who spent most of his life battling drug and alcohol addictions.

The cause was revealed to have occurred due to the “acute effects of ketamine”.

Making it worse are the roles some other people in his life may have played in Perry’s death.

The investigation into his death is nearing its conclusion, with law enforcement officials believing that “multiple people” could be charged.

TMZ reports that authorities are looking for who might have been a secondary source of the ketamine, along with the possibility that Perry received narcotics in the mail.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office will ultimately decide whether or not to press charges.

Kudrow though, wants to again focus on the positive, and hopes fans remember Perry the way she does. or, at least, the way he wanted it to be.

“I think the world is remembering him the way he wanted to be remembered,” she said. “I think that’s happening [already].”
