It’s previously been reported that the Hollywood star Kevin Costner will not be returning to the hit show Yellowstone. That’s why it came as a surprise when Costner, 69, refused to rule out a return to the show in a new interview.

Costner ‘Would Go Back’ To Yellowstone

When asked by CBS Sunday Morning if he’d like to go back to Yellowstone, Costner replied, “Yeah, if I liked the story, where it was going, I would go back.”

Costner went on to clarify that he did not need to leave Yellowstone to complete his four-part western movie series Horizon.

“I did everything that I was contracted to do with Yellowstone,” Costner explained.

Costner ‘Loves’ Yellowstone

In another interview with TODAY, Costner said that he still “loves” Yellowstone and that the western series has been “really important” to him.

“Number one, I did it for five years, okay, and I want to work more than once a year and we lost an entire year at one point and I thought, ‘Well that can’t ever happen again,’ it was well over a year,” he explained, according to Daily Mail.

“And I said, ‘Well I just have to be in position to make the things,’ and really it’s just huge, there is a chance to do both of them but material has to be ready at certain times and we weren’t able to do that and after five years, I thought, ‘I’m just not going to do this,’ and if we can get that, we can do that, then I will do it,” he continued.

Yellowstone Is ‘Really Important’ To Costner

When Costner was told that “people care” about his role on Yellowstone, he replied, “Listen, who loves it more than myself and Taylor [Sheridan]? I took it over when no one had seen it and told people that I thought it was going to be pretty good.”

“‘I went and sat in front of 300 people in Europe and went to another place and said, ‘I think you’ll like this thing,’ so I have supported that thing and I have loved it, it’s been really important to me,” he added.

Not stopping there, Costner proceeded to double down.

“I would love to go back under the right circumstances. I think that all of us want, right? At this point, for me, it really needs to be the right circumstances,” he confessed. “[I’m] saying there’s a chance, there’s always a chance. I love the thing, you know, you got to be really clear about that.”

Costner Sets The Record Straight

This comes one month after Costner tried to set the record straight about an alleged feud between himself and Sheridan.

“There was no script,” Costner told Deadline. “And then things imploded. You’ve been reading one version [of the show’s drama] for a year and a half.”

“If you know me well enough, I made Yellowstone the first priority, and to insinuate anything else would be wrong,” he added.

The first half of season five of Yellowstone aired last year. Production of the second half is set to happen this summer. No premiere date for the second batch of season five episodes has been revealed at this time.
