On January 1, 2023, the Hollywood star Jeremy Renner of Marvel fame was nearly killed when a snowplow ran over him near his home in Reno, Nevada.
Now, the 53 year-old movie star is showing off his scars as he poses shirtless on the cover of the July/August issue of Men’s Health magazine.
Renner’s Scars
After the accident, Renner was left with massive injuries that put him on life support. He was then forced to undergo multiple operations leaving him with scars that are visible on his back, shoulders, and stomach.
“I never really had scars before, they were probably more emotional, spiritual scars, you know?” Renner said in a video accompanying the photoshoot. “And now there are some physical ones.”
“But the physical ones aren’t even from the accident, they’re just because of the accident,” he continued. “All those are just reminders of the beautiful, beautiful, day that could have been a really bad day.”

Renner’s Accident
On the day of the accident, Renner was towing his nephew’s vehicle after it got stuck in the snow. While he was doing this, the snowplow began to move. Renner immediately took action to stop his nephew from being hurt.
Things went wrong when the snowcat started “sliding sideways” and then “began to roll down the hill.” This led Renner to jump out of the 14,330 pound machine, and he was ultimately crushed by it.
Afterwards, Renner was left with over 30 broken bones. He had breaks to his ribs, knees, ankles, face, pelvis and hands. Other injuries of Renner’s included a collapsed lung, pierced liver and a contusion that left his left eye protruding out of his face.

Renner Touched By All The Love
As he recovered, Renner was shocked by all the love that he received from fans.
“I’m a tough guy to love, I think?” he explained. “And I think my family and people put all that aside. There’s a lot of people that love me. And I had no idea. I had to learn how to receive all this love, and it’s not easy.”
After questioning why so many people cared about his accident, Renner eventually decided to just accept their love.
“I was famous for having a bow and arrow; now I’m famous for overcoming something as a man,” he later said.
