Days after he made history as the oldest person to ever win an Emmy at 98, the Hollywood legend Dick Van Dyke brought the house down performing with his 52 year-old wife Arlene Silver.

Van Dyke Performs With Wife

Daily Mail reported that Van Dyke and Silver hosted A Magical Afternoon with Arlene & Dick Van Dyke and Friends in Malibu, California on Sunday.

Van Dyke wore a black suit and used a walking stick as he performed with the a cappella quartet The Vantastix. As for Silver, she looked the epitome of glamor as she wore a figure-hugging black gown, with a plunging neckline and dazzling silver necklace.

While there isn’t video from this event, you can check out Van Dyke and Silver performing together two years ago in the video below.

Van Dyke Makes History

This came days after Van Dyke made history when he won Best Guest Performer In A Daytime Drama Series for his role as Timothy Robicheaux on Days Of Our Lives.

His competition for this coveted award was Guy Pearce (as Mike Young on Neighbours), Linden Ashby (Cameron Kirsten on The Young And The Restless), Ashley Jones (as Dr. Bridget Forrester on The Bold And The Beautiful), and Alley Mills (as Heather Webber on General Hospital).

Van Dyke was visibly shocked as he accepted this award with his wife.

“I don’t believe this. I feel like a spy from nighttime television,” he said, adding that he “brought this lady up because she, by trouble and strife, is the love of my life, but because she was in the show — she played the cop who arrested me.”

Van Dyke went on to say that he has “been playing old men all my life. If I had known I would live this long I would have taken care of myself. You guys are a real family and just took me in and treated me so nicely.”

As he exited the stage, Van Dyke added, “I’m 98 years old, can you believe it? This really tops off a lifetime of 80 years in the business.”

Van Dyke Shocked To Make History

Van Dyke was stunned to learn that he’d made history with this win.

“Am I really the oldest? I didn’t know I was the oldest,” Van Dyke told Entertainment Tonight. “I’ll be darn. I think I’m the last of my generation, really. I’m 98.”

“I have almost all my marbles,” he added jokingly. “I can’t remember what I had for breakfast.”

Van Dyke Has No Plans To Retire

Van Dyke will be turning 99 in December, but he has no plans to retire for one reason: he’s having too much fun!

“It isn’t work, it’s play” he explained. “Actors are so lucky. I’ve had such a good time.”

Van Dyke made similar comments about never retiring last month.

“I always loved what I was doing,” he said, according to Fox News. ‘If it had felt like work, I probably would have stopped it a long time ago, but I just loved it.”

God bless Van Dyke for continuing to show the world that age really is just a number. We’d like to wish him many years of health and happiness to come!
