Luke Combs is leading the way heading into the 2024 Academy of Country Music (ACM) awards earning eight nominations. Combs finds himself in several prestigious categories including Entertainer of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, and Album of the Year.
The awards ceremony, hosted by Reba McEntire, is scheduled to stream live globally on Prime Video later tonight.
Combs is joined by several artists as a nominee for Entertainer of the Year including Morgan Wallen, Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson, Kane Brown, Cody Johnson, and Chris Stapleton.
This year’s event is set to feature a wide range of performances by country music stars along with a moving tribute to the late country star Toby Keith.
Combs Leads The Way At The Country Music Awards
Combs is also nominated in the category of Song of the Year with his incredible cover of Tracy Chapman’s tune “Fast Car.”
The song marked the debut single for Chapman back in 1988 and earned her three Grammy nominations. She won in the category of Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
Combs covered the hit song this past year, sending it to new heights and creating a beloved but wholly unexpected pairing.
Combs’ cover of “Fast Car” went platinum in July 2023 and later captured the number one slot on the country music charts. Chapman became the first Black woman with a sole songwriting credit to top the country charts.
“I never expected to find myself on the country charts, but I’m honored to be there,” Chapman said in a statement to Billboard in July 2023.

Combs, Chapman Perform Live
Chapman later earned the CMA Award for Song of the Year in November 2023. Combs, who accepted, showed his absolute reverence for her work.
“I want to thank Tracy Chapman for writing one of the greatest songs of all time,” he said.
Chapman later hit the stage for the first time in years at the 2024 Grammy Awards where she and Luke Combs did an incredible rendition of the song.
Some of the biggest names in the entire music industry are standing and singing along to Chapman and Combs’ performance in that video.
What an honor.
In addition to Combs’ eight nominations at the Academy of Country Music awards, Morgan Wallen and Megan Moroney each received six nods.
First-time nominee and favorite of The Mix readers Jelly Roll earned four nominations at the ACM awards.
