According to a report, WWE recently filed some trademarks for familiar names, including Zack Ryder. Plus, if Mark Henry had his way, CM Punk would return to AEW.

WWE Files “Zack Ryder” Trademark

As per a PW Insider report, WWE has filed some interesting trademarks for entertainment purposes. They include Drew McIntyre, Ezekiel Jackson, Dolph Ziggler, and Zack Ryder.

While Matt Cardona is currently not in the WWE, he did wrestle as “Zack Ryder” for the company for approximately 13 years. He was released in 2020 with a slew of other talents due to the COVID-19 pandemic budget cuts.

Matt filed the Ryder trademark name in January but was denied. He notes that the WWE allowed the trademark name to lapse, and he was looking at it for merchandising reasons.

Meanwhile, Ezekiel Jackson joined the WWE in 2008. Highlights in his career before leaving the company in 2014 include being the last ECW Champion, Brian Kendrick’s bodyguard, a run with the Intercontinental title, and a member of The Corre stable.

As for McIntyre and Ziggler, both are current WWE superstars on the main roster, so their trademark filings make sense. Cardona did comment on the WWE trademark news, which can be seen in the tweet above.

Could Cardona be heading back to the WWE? Only time will tell.

Over to some AEW news, Mark Henry seemingly believes bringing back CM Punk would be best for business. See the story, below.

Mark Henry – CM Punk Return

On a recent edition of Busted Open Radio, WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry was asked if CM Punk should return to AEW. He has some interesting insight into this.

WWE Zack Ryder Trademark

He notes that if he was “in charge”, he’d bring Punk back. He states that he would not bring him back with an apology, but rather to state the facts.

According to Henry, “grown men will disagree” and things that likely shouldn’t be said will be said. He also adds that can “we” can’t agree on everything, but people should be able to work together and have a business relationship.

Henry Doesn’t Believe Personal Feelings Should Get In The Way Of Business

Mark does say he does not let personal feelings interfere with business. With that said, he was also asked if the AEW locker room is functioning better without Punk.

Mark notes that just like himself, CM Punk was a bit of an “outsider” because he wasn’t with the company like some talents who were originally there. Ultimately, when things get dicey, people will gravitate towards those they were with from the start.

Henry also notes that the talents that were suspended due to the backstage brawl incident and have returned have said they’re sorry to the locker room. Looks like they did their due diligence to make things right.

At the end of the day, Henry believes that whatever is good for business and will make Tony Khan’s promotion money and place fans in arena seats is the best choice. If CM Punk will do that, then he should return.

Will CM Punk make an AEW comeback (or even return to wrestling)? Fans will have to wait and see!
