Actress Rose McGowan took to Twitter this week to call out billionaire mogul Oprah Winfrey for her past friendship with disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein.

McGowan is one of many women who have accused Weinstein of raping her.

McGowan Calls Out Oprah

I am glad more are seeing the ugly truth of Oprah,” McGowan wrote. “I wish she were real, but she isn’t. From being pals with Weinstein to abandoning & destroying Russell Simmon’s victims, she is about supporting a sick power structure for personal gain, she is as fake as they come. #lizard.”

This comes one year after Oprah stepped down as executive producer of Russell Simmons’ #MeToo documentary because she felt “there is more work to be done on the film to illuminate the full scope of what the victims endured, and it has become clear that the filmmakers and I are not aligned in that creative vision.”

“I want it to be known that I unequivocally believe and support the women. Their stories deserve to be told and heard,” she told The Hollywood Reporter at the time.

Oprah’s History With Weinstein

Oprah starred in the 2013 movie The Butler, which was distributed by Weinstein’s media company.

After Weinstein was accused of sexual assault, Oprah said that she was “friendly with Harvey” but “didn’t know any of this was going on.”

She also appeared to try to shift the focus away from Weinstein.

“Everybody has a story and so I think this is a watershed moment. If we make this just about Harvey Weinstein, then we will have lost this moment,” she said at the time.

You can hear what Oprah has to say right here:

Weinstein is currently serving a 23-year prison sentence for rape and sexual assault. He was recently extradited to Los Angeles, where he is due to face trial on even more sex crime charges.

McGowan Slams Time’s Up

Earlier this month, McGowan spoke out against the organization Time’s Up after it was revealed that CEO and President Tina Tchen, who has since stepped down, gave guidance to then-New York Governor Andrew Cuomo in his sexual harassment scandal.

“Remember when Hollywood actresses & paid off activists wore stupid black dresses at the Oscars? That was sponsored by Times Up who were meant to help abuse victims I told the world they are a lie 3+ years ago,” McGowan said in a statement, according to Fox News

“I was mocked & harassed by so many who want to believe the illusion,” she continued. “Wake up. Hard truths are inconvenient & uncomfortable. So what, suck it up.”

McGowan is one of the few stars that is brave enough to speak out against the liberal establishment that runs the entertainment industry.
