Carol Burnett had some of the top stars of the day on her long running variety/sketch comedy show. “The Carol Burnett Show” was must-see TV at the time and a who’s who of A-Listers wanted to be included. While Carol Burnett apparently loved working with everyone, there is one guest that was so awful that she calls him a “belligerent little SOB.”
“The Carol Burnett Show” captivated us for eleven seasons. It was the ultimate family show of the day as everyone could gather around the television together for some good laughs.

This is old school comedy that stands the test of time. The cast’s antics are still entertaining over half a century later.
Burnett is proud to say the only thing dated about her classic variety show is the outfits. The comedy still remains relevant even fifty years later.

Carol Burnett’s 2016 Memoir
In her 2016 memoir “In Such Good Company: Eleven Years of Laughter, Mayhem, and Fun in the Sandbox,” Burnett recalled a guest on the show who was very different from the others.
“During our 11-year run, there was only one guest who was a royal pain,” she wrote in her book. “I won’t name him, but he wasn’t a happy camper from the get-go. We tried to accommodate him at every turn, but to no avail.”
This pretentious entertainer more than rubbed the staff the wrong way.
“The Carol Burnett Show” cast and staff had to put up with his irritating and rude behavior for nothing. He even had the gall to ditch them before filming.
“We later learned he was ‘on’ something, which might’ve explained his orneriness,” she wrote. “At any rate, it came as no surprise when he simply decided to walk the day before we were to tape the show.”
He Was A “Pony’s Ass”
“He was a belligerent little SOB,” Burnett recalled. “I say ‘little’ because he was very short, which prompted one of our writers to label him ‘a pony’s ass’.”
Ouch!
That person should be grateful that Carol Burnett didn’t names name. She’s an American icon beloved by all. Just as the comedian herself loves everyone.
This person must have been a real tyrant to provoke such a response!
