Golf star and social media influencer Paige Spiranac is speaking out this week to talk about the support she received since opening up about her nude photo scandal. She also commented on the number of inappropriate pictures she’s received from golf fans who miss the sport since the coronavirus quarantine started. Interesting times indeed, folks.
Golf Pro Paige Spiranac’s Nude Photo Scandal
Paige Spiranac is a talented golfer-turned-social media sensation. As a junior golfer, Spiranac won five tournaments to become a top-20 junior player in the world and a top-5 college recruit.
After playing at the University of Arizona on scholarship, she skyrocketed to become the 2016 top-ranked amateur in the world.
After turning pro, Spiranac pivoted to become a model and build her golf social media presence with trick shot videos. In 2018, she posed for Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit edition.
Earlier this month, Spiranac opened up on her “Playing A Round” podcast about an ex-boyfriend leaking scandalous photos of her. The former boyfriend sent intimate photos that she had sent him privately to friends after they broke up.
In a February 24 Instagram post (below), Spiranac wrote about the leaked photos:
It was a huge invasion of my privacy and I’ve been harassed and black mailed over it for the past 4 years. I’m now owning the nude picture and I feel so much better to have talked about it!
Paige Spiranac Overwhelmed By Positive Support
She said she was “constantly stressed out” that her image had been shared on the internet.
“Just getting these random messages from people you don’t know and they’ve seen you in such a vulnerable way. It was disgusting,” she recalled, according to The New York Post.
The 27-year-old said that the support she has received since going public with the story on her golf podcast has been “overwhelming.”
“At the very beginning, I didn’t think that I would have those responses. I knew there were certain things that I definitely wanted to talk about, like never being accepted in the golf industry, and then the nude picture was something I wanted to discuss,” Spiranac told The Post. “I didn’t know how any of that would be accepted by other people, but as those episodes have come out, the response has been overwhelming.”

“When I talked about the nude picture, I got thousands and thousands of messages from men and women who could relate or guys who didn’t know how this made women feel,” she added.
“I didn’t expect that response, I was shocked by it. It was overwhelming in such a positive way and it made me realize that even though telling these stories is really difficult, they do make an impact and so it’s worth it in the end.”
Quarantine Is Making People Crazy – Including Golfers
Spiranac shot to fame as a professional golfer, but she has also gained quite a bit of fame on social media thanks to her 2.3 million followers, more than any other female golfer.
This week, she revealed that fans have been sending her an increasing number of inappropriate photos since the beginning of coronavirus quarantine.
“Quarantine apparently makes people horny. Live look inside my DMs right now,” she tweeted.

I guess chivalry really is dead!
Interesting fact, Spiranac has been pushing for gender equality in golf for a number of years now. Well, at the very least, it seems she has the attention of the opposite gender.
Boredom is a recurring theme amid coronavirus quarantine. Golf courses in many states are closed and there’s no doubt that golfers are itching to get outside for 18.
