We all knew the WWE superstar draft would be interesting. Naturally, there were some surprising top picks, but also some weird choices. If you have missed the draft, these are the things you need to know.

First Pick of The 2019 WWE Superstar Draft: Becky Lynch (GREAT)

Becky Lynch WWE superstar draft first pick

By choosing Becky Lynch as the first superstar to be drafted in the 2019 WWE superstar draft, the WWE is showing that it takes the women’s revolution quite seriously still. Becky will play a vital role on the red brand. This is quite a surprise, as many believed she would be moved to SmackDown Live.

The O.C. Remains Together on Raw (GREAT)

AJ Styles, Luke Gallows, And Karl Anderson WWE superstar draft

There were some rumors that The O.C. would be broken up in the draft. Fortunately, this was not the case and the team ended up on Raw.

As a faction, The O.C. are certainly not done with Monday Night Raw. There are many feuds to be done, especially one for the Raw tag team champions. So, this is an excellent choice.

Drew McIntyre Returns (GREAT)

Drew McIntyre

We haven’t seen Drew McIntyre for a while due to surgery, but he is set to return soon. I always wanted a bigger role for McIntyre. Given his position on the draft pick, it seems like he will be given just that.

Ricochet Remains on Raw (BAD)

Ricochet

I would have preferred Ricochet on the blue brand. Even though I have no doubt he is Universal Championship material, he will not be getting such a title shot anytime soon. As this could hamper his career, this is a poor decision. If he gets more poor bookings, his rise to the top could be over.

Bobby Lashley Remains on Raw (GREAT)

Bobby Lashley WWE superstar draft

The recent storyline between Bobby Lashley, Rusev, and Lana seems to be hitting it off with the WWE Universe. His draft pick also caused a lot of speculation. Will Lana join him?

Nikki Cross & Alexa Bliss Go to Raw (GREAT)

WWE superstar draft nikki cross and alexa bliss

It did not really matter where Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross ended up, as long as they stayed together. The two women together have lots of stories left to tell. They could resume their hunt for the tag team champions, but also feud against one another in the future.

The Viking Raiders on Raw (BAD)

The Viking Raiders

The Viking Raiders did not have the easiest time on Raw. They encountered some bad bookings and were placed in the background for the longest time. A move to SmackDown would have been great to revitalize this tag team. Nevertheless, their gimmick is great. So, if Paul Heyman gives them good bookings, it could turn out to be a good call.

The Street Profits on Raw (GREAT)

Why The Street Profits Debuted On RAW

Even though their action has been limited to backstage promos, this is a great team to have on Raw. As they are fresh from the NXT roster, each brand could have worked for them.

Roman Reigns on SmackDown (GREAT)

Roman Reigns

Roman has done a lot on Raw, so he was running out of stuff to do. Putting him on SmackDown will be a massive draw as well for Fox Network, so it is an obvious move.

The Fiend to SmackDown (BAD)

The Fiend and Seth Rollins

A missed opportunity for the WWE. If a wildcard could apply to just one man, it would have been the fiend. You would never know where he pops up. This is the one guy that could pull off the wildcard. So, bad decision all around to put him on a single brand.

Sasha Banks to SmackDown (GREAT)

Sasha Banks

Banks has been doing great as a heel. I like her more as a heel than I ever liked her as a face. The SmackDown Live brand needs a prominent heel and there is none better than Banks. Unfortunately, there are some rumors about a serious injury. Let’s hope it does not affect her status after the WWE superstar draft.

Strowman to SmackDown (BAD)

Braun Strowman

I have to be honest, I have no idea what the WWE will do with Strowman on SmackDown. On the other hand, I fail to see what they would do with him on Raw at this point either. He’s had poor bookings and a lack of title runs for sure. Yes, there is the feud with Tyson Fury, but that has a limited time span. Nevertheless, Strowman is A-list.

Lacey Evans to SmackDown (BAD) – Worst Decision of the WWE Superstar Draft?

Lacey Evans

Lacey Evans would have been better on Raw. I think there is much more for her to do on Raw but there has been little to convince the audience of her seriousness as a competitor. This may have been the biggest mistake of the WWE superstar draft.

The Revival on SmackDown (GREAT) – Best Tag Team Decision of the WWE Superstar Draft

WWE The Revival

Keeping the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions on SmackDown was the obvious choice. Smackdown has also been the preferred choice of tag teams in the past, so I could not be happier for this established tag team to end up on the blue brand during the WWE superstar draft. Let’s hope there are some clear plans for the future, too.

Biggest Surprise of The WWE Superstar Draft – The Lucha House Party to SmackDown Live

WWE superstar draft

This was the biggest surprise of the WWE superstar draft, and I think many will agree with me. The Lucha House Party has been jobbing for some time, despite the fact they are extremely talented individuals. It would seem Fox does appreciate their value though, as their draft pick happened relatively early.

Surprising Free Agents!

The brand split caused some surprising free agents, too. According to management, these wrestlers are free to choose their own brand. Here is the list of wrestlers who have been declared free agents.

  • Cesaro (Biggest Surprise)
  • Humberto Carrillo (NXT Call Up)
  • Akira Tozawa
  • Sin Cara
  • Eric Young
  • EC3
  • Chad Gable
  • Heath Slater
  • Drew Gulak
  • The B-Team
  • Tamina

Please note that some people have not been drafted yet including Baron Corbin, The New Day, The Usos, and other prominent wrestlers. We will keep an eye on the situation and inform you of any changes and/or updates.
